Digitality in music edition: the open concept of work in the 17th century
The aim of the long-term DFG project led by Dr. Juliane Pöche and Prof. Dr. Ivana Rentsch is the creation of a digital model edition for the German basso continuo repertoire of the 17th century. Based on over 500 critically edited movements from the 17th century, an IT solution is being developed that integrates the performance practice in a way that isn't possible in printed music editions. The essential improvisational qualities of the compositions are taken into account by digitally reproducing the whole range of the historically reconstructable variants. The model edition and the digital tools will be made available as open source.
